Russ and Umbrellas

I'm trying to learn a little Italian so while in Italy last year I thought I'd try to address the audience in their native tongue. I thought I was doing pretty well although I did detect a few snickers as I announced the tunes and made some other comments about the CD's that we would make available after the show. It was only after the concert that I was informed that I'd announced we'd be in the lobby selling umbrellas.

Frank Zappa Civilization - Phaze III: This is hard to find. Incredible music all written and performed on a synclavier.

Diane Reeves That Day has a wonderful production by Terri Lyne Carrington, and wonderful arrangements by Russell Ferrante and Billy Childs. I love listening to this CD.

Michiel Bortslap White House: A young Dutch piano player that I had the pleasure of working with this year in Amsterdam, Holland. He is a very interesting composer who recently won the Thelonius Monk composition award and wrote a piece of music on the Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter duet CD. Great music!! He just signed a new recording contract with Verve, Holland.

Live Zawinul Syndicate World Tour recording is compelling. On Zebra Records in the U.S. Interesting and really burning music!!

Latin/Salsa Music--3 songs by Issac Delgado: "Deja Que Roberto Te Toque," "Locas Por El Mambo," and "Brindando Con El Alma."
